CALL FOR PAPERS

CONFERENCE THEME: Media Services Act, No. 12, 2016: An Instrument for Freedom of Expression in   Tanzania

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees the right to freedom of expression. Article 18 of the 1977 Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania also guarantees freedom of expression which includes the right to hold opinion without interference and impact ideas through any media.

SAUT-DAR CENTRE School of Graduate  Studies  intends to host an international conference on the above mentioned theme on August 16, 2018 at Msimbazi Centre in Dar es Salaam. The main objective of the conference is to avail participants an opportunity to discuss the Media Services Act, No 12, 2016 as an instrument for promoting freedom of expression in Tanzania.

In view of this background, the SAUT-DAR CENTRE School of Graduate  Studies invites abstracts from academicians, researchers and media practitioners on the following sub-themes

Media Services Act, No. 12, 2016 for:

  • National Development Agenda
  • Promotion of Journalists’ Welfare
  • Public Accountability
  • Media Concentration
  • Diversity and Pluralism in the Media
  • Recognising Journalism as a Profession in Tanzania
  • Providing Opportunities for Quality Training and Research in Mass Communication

ABSTRACT

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words. The submission should include: the title of the paper; name(s) and contact details of the author (s); including institution affiliation(s). They should be written in Times New Roman, 12 font size and single spacing.

DEADLINES

Submission of abstract: July 6, 2018.

Notification of acceptance: July 13, 2018.

Submission of full papers: July 31, 2018.
